Santa Claus

Santa Claus came to Story Time today at the library! Lindsey knew who Santa was when he walked through the door. We have been talking about him all week, but I still wasn't sure if she would sit on his lap for a picture. She was a little nervous, so I had to carry her up there. I think she really wanted to get one of those candy canes that she saw all the other kids eating. Ah, the power of bribery! When it was Lindsey's turn, she went right up to Santa and climbed up on his lap. She didn't even cry! I think she even had a little conversation with him, but I couldn't really hear because it was so loud. Megan even sat on Santa's lap, but she wasn't too happy about it. She only cried because I walked five feet away to take the picture. She has really become a mama's girl lately, otherwise she would have been fine! I think the pictures turned out pretty well!

Christmas Party

Last night was our ward Christmas party. I decided to get the girls all dressed up for it. I kept telling Lindsey that we were going to see Santa there. We had even practiced what she was going to say to him. She wanted candy, clothes, and presents! It turns out that Santa did not show up, but they did have a really nice Nativity play and singing by the Primary kids. I don't think that Lindsey even noticed that Santa wasn't there. She was too excited by the bag of candy that they gave her! So here are the pictures that I took before the party.

This is our beautiful Christmas tree that Jason picked up last year. It came with the lights already on it, and it was so easy to set up!

Playing

On Thursday, just before the girls' bedtime, I went into Lindsey's room and found this. Both girls were in Lindsey's closet and had pulled out almost every toy in there. Jason and I figured that they were up to something because it was just too quiet! It was so cute to see them playing together. I hope that they can grow up to be good friends.

This one is a bit dark, but Megan has a huge smile on her face.
They were really enjoying themselves!

Megan's new trick

Megan has learned a new trick. She can now pull herself up onto the furniture! It is so funny to watch her do her little army crawl over to the couch and then stand herself up. She really wants to be walking and I am sure that it won't be too much longer now. She is eight months old today, and she is not acting like the baby that she still should be! I can't believe how fast she is growing up!

This is the cute face that I get to see when she wakes up from her nap.
I just had to throw this one of Lindsey in!

Megan standing!

So proud of herself!

Standing up in the crib. Normally, she is really happy, but she just wanted OUT!

Anytime I pull the camera out, Lindsey is right there wanting her picture taken too.

Standing at the rocking chair.

Actually on all fours for once!

A great Thanksgiving!

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend with my parents in Cody. Jason spent most of the weekend rabbit hunting with his brother, Jeff, or my brother, Alex. He even bought a new gun. I must be the best wife EVER to let him buy a new gun especially for hunting rabbits! We took advantage of the free babysitting and went to the movies two nights in a row. But the best part of the weekend, in my opinion, had to be horseback riding on Saturday. It was a pretty nice day, so my dad saddled up a couple of horses and we took Lindsey for a ride down the road. She had a blast! She told me, "Mommy, don't get me off the horse!" She would wave to all the other horses that we saw, and she even knew the names of the horses that we were riding. Grandpa rode Chinook, and we rode "black Sioux" (at least that is what Lindsey called her!). After we took Lindsey back to the house, Dad and I had to hook up the horse trailer for a longer ride up Hart Mountain. It felt good for me to be on a horse again. I don't get to do that much lately, and it was really fun. So here are a few pictures from our ride. I have to rub a little salt in the wounds for Eric because he was at work and this is what he would have done to me!

Random pictures

There is no rhyme or reason to these pictures today. I just realized that I had quite a few on the camera, and I needed to get them off the camera and onto the computer. So here they are!

Here is Megan looking cute in her camo p.j.'s.Of course once I take a picture of Megan, Lindsey wants me to take one of her too. This is also a "before" picture. Her bangs were getting really long, so I cut them myself this morning.

Here is Lindsey's "after" picture. I have never cut hair before, so I think I did a pretty good job. I promised her a treat if she sat really still, and she did!

Lindsey smiling for the camera!
This one was taken a while back, but she is still cute!
Another of my sweet little Megan.
Here is one of the sunset we had a couple of nights ago. The colors were so beautiful!
We woke up to a little buck deer in our backyard one morning, so I had to get a couple pictures of him.
Little BoBo soaking up the sunshine!

Lindsey's animal sounds

To go along with yesterday's post, I decided to record Lindsey saying her animal sounds. She knows a lot more than what is on the video, but what other two-year-old knows what an elk says. Granted, she had to be prompted in the video, but normally she does not need any help. Ahh, my little hunter!

Her father's daughter

My little Lindsey has become quite the hunter lately. I think that she has been hunting more in her short two years than I have in my 27. She went deer hunting with Jason this weekend, and came home talking about it. She crawled under a fence, laid on the ground, covered her ears, and saw a deer fall down. It seems that she has hunting on the brain lately. I know someone else that always has hunting on the brain, and I think she takes after him!

One night after she was talking about hunting with Daddy, Jason decided to show her a deer hunting movie. So now Lindsey's new favorite thing to do is watch deer or elk hunting movies. Hmmm? I wonder where she gets that from too. When she picks a movie to watch, she immediately goes for the deer hunting ones. I tell her that Mommy does not watch hunting movies, only Daddy watches those, so she has to wait for Daddy to get home.

Bribery works really well with our Lindsey, so last night when I was having a tough time getting her ready for bed, I bribed her with a deer hunting movie! She was very cooperative after that and sat right down to watch her hunting movie. She really is her father's daughter!

Will she ever learn?

Jason has been working hard this week and a lot of it has been out of town work, which means that I am at home with the girls by myself for long periods of time. This can be very tiring as anyone with two little ones knows! So to give me a break on Thursday night, Jason took Lindsey to Gillette to drop off some chemical for work. On the way there, Lindsey saw Jason eating some sunflower seeds and started demanding one. Now if you know our little Lindsey demanding means screaming and crying and while you are driving sometimes it is just easier to give her what she wants than to listen to her scream. About 30 seconds after giving her one sunflower seed, Jason hears, "Daddy, get it out!" Uh, oh, could this really have happened again? I thought she learned her lesson the last time with the dog food! Nope, she didn't learn her lesson and this sunflower seed won't dissolve like the dog food did. Jason took her into the Urgent Care Clinic in Gillette where he, the doctor, and a nurse, attempted to hold this seemly small two-year-old down. The three of them were unsuccessful with getting the sunflower seed out of her nose because they couldn't hold her still. When Jason got home with her that night, the two of us attempted to get the seed out, but we were unsuccessful as well. The only option left for us was to take her to the doctor in the morning where we were told that she might have to be sedated. Jason was pretty worried about her the whole night, so he slept in the guest bed in Lindsey's room. Around 4 a.m. he finally brought her into our bed. A couple of minutes after she layed down with us, I heard her sneeze. We got up on Friday morning and thought that we would try one more time to get the seed out. Jason put on his headlamp and I held her head, but when we looked up her nose there was nothing there! Hooray! She had sneezed it out, and we found the little "booger" in our bed! At least it was a trip to the doctor that we avoided. Please tell me that she will eventually stop putting things up her nose! What is left for her to stick up there?

Halloween costumes

Joe and JoAnn requested some pictures of the girls in their Halloween costumes, so I thought that I would share them with everyone. Lindsey really wanted to wear the horse costume even though it is a little small for her. And of course, my sweet little Megan as a pumpkin. We are going to a Halloween party on Friday, so I will have to post some more pictures then.

Video of Meggie crawling

Well, it is official. My little baby girl is crawling. Okay, she isn't crawling on her hands and knees yet, but she is definetly making forward progress. I thought that Lindsey was an active baby until I had Megan. This kid doesn't sit still even when you are holding her. A friend from church was holding her this last week and commented on how wigglely she is. Pretty soon I am going be be chasing two little girls. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

Snow Day

Lindsey woke up this morning to about two inches of snow on the ground. She wanted to go outside to play in it even before having breakfast, but the mean mommy that I am, I made her wait until after breakfast and until Megan went down for a nap. Jason normally shovels the walks, but as he is out of town this morning, I decided to do it while Lindsey played (also read as: ate snow!). Here are a couple of pictures of her eating the snow. She got really cold after a while, so we had to come in, but she really didn't want to. She said to me, "Mommy, I NEVER want to go back in!" I guess she had fun!

One of my poor rose bush. It had about a dozen buds ready to bloom, but now it will never get the chance!

6 months old!

My little Megan is six months old today! Where did that time go? I feel like I just barely had her two weeks ago and now she is six months! I am continuely surprised by all the things that she is able to do. The big one is her mobility. She can roll across the floor to get to where she wants to go. She has been trying so hard the last couple of days to crawl. She has this technique where she will roll to her side and kick her legs up to inch herself forward. Today she started bringing her knees up to her chest with her little bum in the air. It won't be too much longer now! She has also starting "talking" to us. She can say da-da, na-na, and ya-ya. She will let us know when she wants something because she has a piercing shriek. Most of all, she is a happy little girl. She is always ready with a huge smile for Mommy or Daddy (actually anyone that talks to her gets a big smile), and especially one for big sister Lindsey. Megan loves her big sister and will giggle at her when she dances. Although the pictures don't show her smiling, that is all she does! I am so in love with my baby girl and I am so happy that she has joined our family!

Pumpkin patch fun

This afternoon we took the girls to the pumpkin patch in Sheridan. It was a lot of fun! They had a couple of animals for people to see. Lindsey especially liked to look at the chickens. They also had a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch. Lindsey was pretty excited to go on a tractor ride. She talked non-stop the whole way there. We were able to pick our own pumpkins, which Lindsey loved as well. She picked the perfect one for her. She could actually carry it around, and wouldn't let go of it once she had it in her hands. We had a great time, and I think that it is going to become a Goodrich family tradition for Halloween!
