Adventures in parenting a two-year-old

Yesterday was a pretty warm day here in Buffalo, so after Lindsey's nap I decided to let her play in the backyard. I opened up the door so I could hear what she was doing and I also put up the dogs' dish because she likes to play in their water and eat their food. (Can you see where I am going with this?) So anyways, she played outside for about an hour, and then she comes up to me rubbing her nose and sneezing, saying, "Mommy, get the dog food out." I look up her nose, and you guessed it. She had shoved a piece of dog food right up her nose! Don't ask me where she got the dog food because I had put it up out of her reach and don't ask me where she got the idea to put it up her nose! I called the doctor's office and they didn't seem too concerned out it. They said to go to the pharmacy and get a nasal spray to see if I could get it to drain down her throat. Well, I bought the nasal spray and the pharmacist says good luck because she is really not going to like you after this! All the while, Lindsey is pulling things off the rack and I literally had to wrestle her for a purse that she had taken off a shelf. While I was paying for the nasal spray she is screaming bloody murder and I had to carry her and Megan out of the store. This is not an easy feat when Lindsey weighs a good 30 pounds and Megan in the car seat is almost as heavy. I got home and read the directions for this thing, and I am thinking there is no way I am going to be able to spray this solution up her nose. I got it all ready and then I had to pin her arms down, so that she would let me stick that spray up her nose. I got a couple of sprays up there and got the piece of dog food softened up a bit. After a couple of minutes I tried to suck it out with Megan's "boogie snatcher". I was able to get a small piece of it to come out, and I think that it was soft enough that she swallowed the rest. So that was our little adventure yesterday. Sorry that I don't have pictures for you today.

Lindsey's First Haircut

So I finally broke down and cut Lindsey's hair yesterday. Well, I didn't cut it, but I took her in to one of our friends, Melanie, and had her trim it up a bit. Lindsey refuses to wear barrettes or rubberbands in her hair, and it was constantly falling in her eyes, so I said that enough was enough. I am so proud of her because she didn't cry or anything. Melanie told Lindsey that if she sat still she could have a sucker, so that was her motivation to be good because I don't normally let her have suckers. When Melanie was done with Lindsey it was my turn. I think she took off about 4-5 inches, but I love it! It feels so light and Megan can't pull it anymore! I wish that I would have done this earlier.

The before picture.

The after picture! I asked her to smile and this is the face that I got!

I Am a Child of God

Lindsey has been learning "I Am a Child of God" in Nursery, and she loves to sing it! I am so glad that I was able to capture her singing it on video. I love at the end of the video how she says that she is a "sweetheart". It is so cute! If I say that she is so smart, or so cute, or something like that, she will imediately tell me, "No, I'm not smart! I'm a sweetheart!" I hope that everyone enjoys Lindsey's singing as much as I do. P.S. I am sorry for her unruly hair. Hopefully, we will have it managed tomorrow!

The Mighty Hunters

Well, it is that time of year again. Yes, it is September, and it is hunting season. Which for the Goodrich household means that our daddy and husband is gone for most of the month. We sure do miss him while he is gone, but he has so much fun. This past week, he went to Lander, WY with his friend Keith Wharton. They were trying to hunt elk, but it was so cold and rainy that they didn't see too many elk. They DID see a lot of bears. Jason even shot at one, but missed. I am glad that he has something to look forward to every year, and I am glad that he has such a great hunting partner in Keith. Here are a couple of pictures from their trip.

Here is one of their camp site.
Eating lunch. Yum!
And here is one of Keith.

Megan is rolling over!

Megan has been officially rolling over since August 29th, but I finally captured the moment on video today. She was pretty happy with herself for doing it. Just look at those big smiles! I am so proud of my big girl! She is growing up way too fast for my liking.
